Grateful

This Thanksgiving, I am grateful for the bounty that will grace our table.  (Even if I don't look forward to all the cooking.)

I am grateful for the dishes and linens and silver that will make our table glow.

I am grateful for the little things:  for sunshine on silver, and berries from the hedge, and the smell of a freshly ironed tablecloth.

I am grateful for all the wonderful blogging friends who share their homes and their hearts with me daily.

I am grateful for my husband -- my best friend and the love of my life -- and for my wonderful children, who each carry a piece of my heart with them wherever they go.

And I am grateful for our Little Red House, with all it's sweet memories.  From our house to yours:  Happy Thanksgiving!

  4. Looks like a beautiful place to share love and laughter. I am just making my menu right now. It will only be me and my husband (and George, of course, but he's not allowed at the table!) so it's going to be a very quiet affair. Looking at your pictures of your table makes me yearn for the faces of loved ones and their laughter.

    How fortunate you are!!

  10. Lovely pictures and thoughts to go with it. Ahhh...the marathon cooking begins today! I will enjoy the smell of turkey cooking, homemade hot rolls fresh from the oven, and a walk to the river when dinner is cleaned up and everyone else is in front of the ball game!

  32. Gorgeous photos, Mary. I love your silver flatware, though *covet* is probably a more accurate verb :o)

I cook turkey several times per year, even during the summer months, though we usually stick it in the smoker or on the bbq then. Roast turkey is truly one of my favorite foods, but I don't much care for all the fussy side dishes, which makes a turkey meal one of the easiest around.

I put together a cookbook of yummy leftover turkey recipes, and it's available as a free download on my website. C'mon by and grab a copy, you'll find it in my Thanksgiving day post.
