I can see clearly now...

I've been spending some time this week washing crystal and glassware pieces. This always reminds me of my mother, who collected many of the pieces that bedeck our dining room. My parents didn't have a lot when I was growing up, but somehow they always found a little extra for the things of beauty that they loved. And I'm sure that is where I got my love for crystal and silver and dishes.

If you love dishes too, don't forget to enter my giveaway. And have a wonderful weekend -- ours is supposed to be cold. But the forsythia and star magnolias and cherry trees are starting to bloom here, so I'm happy. :)

*********

I hope you will join me for Mosaic Monday. Mr. Linky will be up by 8:30pm Sunday. And hopefully I will be able to visit all the mosaics from last week before the new ones are posted! LOL

    this really spoke to me.

My husband has been out of work for 19 months. Through this time I am learning I am still able to make my house a home with beautiful things. Finding treasures where I never would have looked before. They definitely brighten my day.

I woke up this morning to the sun and some warmness! It's been SO cold, grey and wet for quite a few days. What a lovely surprise to see the sun streaming in my bedroom...the day my niece is getting married!

    Have a blessed weekend...

  4. The glass pieces are lovely. It doesn't take a lot of money to create a beautiful home. It just takes an eye for beautiful things, something I'm sure your parents must have had. I believe that you inheirted that gift as well.

  6. These are beautiful, Mary. I love that you used the word 'bedeck'. I just love vocabulary.
Cold here, too but thankfully it's sunny.

  7. Those are very nice looking glass decanters.....very stunning. I'm the same way that you are about family items. Last weekend I polished my Mom's silver teapot, and hung her spoon collection that she left to me. It made me feel close to her. I hung the spoons near a photo of my Dad. And I could swear that the next time I walked by, his smile was so much bigger & brighter in that photo!

  9. I totally love crystal. to my surprise, my grandmother loved milk glass. I have several pieces of hers. I wonder if it was because it doesn't show dirt like crystal does. She was a fanatic house cleaner, so I could see her making decisions like that!

  11. Beautiful decanters Mary! I love crystal...I don't have a lot of if but the odd pieces that I have come from my Mum which makes them even more special to me. I'm afraid I won't be washing mine off or dusting my china cabinet until we stop burning with wood...I don't want to wash them more than I have to! I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Take care. 13. Mary I really dislike crystal and knick knacks but I look at these and wonder of all the stories they hold for you. I look at your photos and see all your treasures and I smile.

  14. Beautiful shot! Growing up in my mom's antique shop I had lots of chances to clean glass! CLR is the best thing ever for treating glass that's become "sick" -- the discoloration that builds up inside over time from water.
