Spring buds and a fine, soft rain...

Yesterday was a quiet, rainy spring day and, after getting a few errands completed, I covered the camera with a plastic bag and went out to chronicle the "fine, soft rain," as my husband's Irish grandmother used to call it. I couldn't help snipping a few of the red buds from the maple tree, too, and bringing them inside to admire.

And then I played around with Photoshop for awhile, and made up this little mosaic. Yes, it's not Mosaic Monday, but sometimes you just have to go with the flow. Besides, think back to when you were little... what did you do on a rainy day? Either reading or coloring book, right? Well, Photoshop is my adult version of a coloring book. lol

Sometimes a rainy day can be just as beautiful as a sunny one, in it's own quiet way.

  11. Yes, Photoshop is almost like playing with crayons, isn't it? So fun to do on a rainy day. I admire what you've created with your photos here, Mary. I bet Ireland gets a lot of fine, soft rain!

  12. I love a soft spring rain. It just means that the flowers will be lovely in a couple of months. I think that buds are every bit as lovely as the flowers themselves. Beautiful mosaic Mary!

  13. We used to go outdoors and play on rainy days. I grew up in Southeast Alaska and it rained most of the time. If we didn't put on our raingear and go out to play in the rain we'd have been indoors most of the time. I still enjoy a good soft rain day - walking or doing yard work - either is fine.

  16. Mary, your mosaic captures the gentleness of such a "fine, soft rain" and the delicacy of the buds. Bringing a little spring to our homes does help sweep away winter, doesn't it? I'll be watching our forsythia bush for buds so that I can bring in a few branches to enjoy. In the meantime, I rely on Walmart for a few flowers to add a splash of color to our home!
    Blessings,
    Laurie

  18. These are gorgeous! I just love Photoshop. It was so intimidating to learn at first (it does SO much!) but it's definitely something I use almost daily.

  19. Beautiful. I love a good soft rain on a day I'm not working and can be home to enjoy it. I really love to listen to rain falling on a tin roof. So peaceful. When I was a kid I'd run down to the barn and lay on hay bales to listen to the rain fall on that roof. We've had too much rain here in MO, and it is MUDDY. More rain headed our way tonight and tomorrow. Blessings to you. I enjoy your blog!

  21. I love shooting in the rain-- and while not many of the shots turn into something i love... its a peace that my heart feels when i am amidst it. Quiet -- soft -- lovely.

    Thanks for sharing.
